Required documents checklist
  • Provincial corporate registration (or sole-proprietor registration)
  • College independent-practice / clinic roster as required in that province
  • Professional liability insurance meeting college minima
  • Municipal business licence and occupancy
  • Privacy (PIPEDA / provincial health-privacy) policies
  • GST/HST accounts if you exceed the threshold
Facility & equipment requirements
  • Ontario, B.C. and Alberta colleges each have their own clinic-roster or premises expectations — do not copy another province’s file.
Staff licensing
  • Every treating PT must hold a practising certificate in that province; assistants practise under the college’s supervision rules.
Licensing steps — in order
1

Provincial college roster for the owner → corporate/municipal files → insurance → open

Important tip

A licence in one province is not a licence in another. If you open a second site in a new province, restart the college file.

Guidance only — not a licence. Confirm fees, area minima, and portal names with the official regulator before you apply or spend on fit-out.
